No. 1 - a beginning?

So…

Where to begin? I’m not sure what this is, or what it will (or won’t) turn into. I can’t promise I will post regularly. Those who know me know how fast my passions ebb and flow.

On November 5, 2024 I decided to take a break from the news and social media, making a commitment to interacting only with my immediate surroundings. Lucky for me, I’m in a fortunate enough position to do so. Ignorance is bliss, as they say.

Which made me realize that I used to spend quite a bit of free time on social media. Instagram, to be exact.

So instead of spending that time on instagram, gaining nothing from that experience, I’ve been doing other things. Taking photos, texting friends, making youtube videos, keeping my house etc.

I can’t say that it’s a dopamine cleanse; I still watch Youtube too much, probably.

I think, keyword think, I want to make this a place to share photos and trip reports. But I also want to talk about other things. Let’s stick a pin in that.

Photos. Yes. Photos. Here are my favorite photos from the past few months:

Brian boofing over the Troublemaker hole, South Fork American. One of the first photos I liked.

Nosy (Nosferatu) focusing on ?

My family, ready for bed.

Scoring perfect light and the perfect corner.

Rick's photo of yours truly boofing on Tiger Creek, Mokelumne River.

Steve making moves on Tiger Creek.

Same subject boofing into the mank.

Nic boofing on Tiger. It took me quite a while to get into position to score this angle, thankful for my 18-135mm here.

Stinky, cranky before dinner.

A cold and rainy day near the confluence.

Same day, different subject.

Stinky embedded in the newly erected Christmas tree.

Nosy, again. Seems like all he does is stare. What's going on in that little brain of his?

Caitlin on the same corner, different day. Experimenting with slower shutter speeds and panning.

I'm in the office twice a week. Might as well take the camera out during lunch.

Nosey with the backlit halo - majestic!

Two loves of my life in one photo.

Nosy experiencing the consequences of eating too quickly.

Stinky living up to his name.

Steve navigating the boulder maze of Bogus Thunder, Chamberlain Falls.

Steve rounding the corner on Staircase, Chamberlain Falls.

The author trusting his camera to a friend.
