Something different; flashes, cityscapes and paparazzi cats

Something different this time around. I picked up an on camera flash (Godox TT350) and it has changed the way I see low light photography. Which essentially means that I'm able to take better lit photos of my cats. Though I still prefer capturing photos in natural light, this flash has taught me a little bit of the basics of light manipulation.

Nosey on left, Stinky on right. Could there be a third on the way?

I'm working on bouncing flash off ceilings, but pretty soon think I'll have an off-camera flash controller.

My dad graciously providing his modeling services as I bounce the flash off the ceiling. Digging the colors here.

Office days do offer a change of pace. These set of four photos were taken with the Polar Pro Everyday filter.

I'm still figuring out the strengths and weaknesses of the Everyday filter. Because it's a 1/4 strength black mist and CPL filter, I lose about 0.7 to 1 stop of light when using it. Which means that it's really not great at action sports photos, bumping my ISO to the thousands when shooting at the requisite 1/1000 minimum shutter speeds. But for taking landscapes and other static photos, it works great. I like the way the highlights are bloomed a bit, and I do enjoy the glare reduction of the polarizer.

Harnessing my inner Bruce Gilden with the up-in-your-face flashes. Poor guy, probably not too good to do this that often.

A Nosey eyeing up his prey.
